Description from @the.storygraph :
Dante’s Inferno meets Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi in this all-new dark academia fantasy from R. F. Kuang, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Babel and Yellowface, in which two graduate students must put aside their rivalry and journey to Hell to save their professor’s soul—perhaps at the cost of their own.

I first came across @lisasee_writer when I read Th I first came across @lisasee_writer when I read The Island of Sea Women and LOVED it. I was thinking about my next book for AAPI Month and was torn between two of Lisa’s novels.

Quick overview:

Tea Girl: follows the parallel lives of Li-yan, a woman from the Akha hill tribe in Yunnan, China and her daughter, Haley, who is adopted by an American family

Lady Tan: inspired by the true story of Tan Yunxian, a female physician in 15th century China

Which book should be my next read?

Jackie is a naive expat spiraling through love, betrayal, and self-destruction in Europe and Asia, chasing validation in all the wrong places, until she’s forced to confront herself in a messy, darkly funny journey reminiscent of My Year of Rest and Relaxation meets Emily in Paris.
